Electrical Tech Students participate in NASA Underwater Robotics Competition

July 2006

Students in the Electrical Technology Department participated in the NASA Underwater Robotics competition for the second year.  Once again, they designed parts using SolidWorks software and built them in the LBCC Rapid Prototyping lab.  They competed in Houston in Summer 2006 in the NASA Neutral Buoyancy Lab.  They received the following awards:

  • First Place: Technical Display
  • Second Place: Technical Report (a few points behind M.I.T.)
  • Second Place: Technical Presentation
  • Fifth Place: In Water, Sharkpedo Award for Design Innovation
  • NASA Best Launch and Recovery Device Award
  • Aloha Team Spirit Award

This was an excellent collaboration between the Electrical and Architecture/Manufacturing Design programs.  The project also received generous support from their industry partners.
