Projects that Move Minds

The CACT wants to attract young people to highly paid, in-demand technical and manufacturing careers in California. The CACT Tech-Explorer turnkey projects make it easy for teachers to move students' minds by introducing hands-on fabrication techniques. The projects are offered in academic English, math, science and history middle school and high school classes and meet state curriculum standards.

As a result of hands-on learning, using tools such as mills, lathes and drills, students may discover a career path in designing, producing and repairing automated equipment.

What students say about
CACT Tech-Explorer:

I have never done anything
like that. But when it was
done I felt good.

I had fun with all the tools I used to cut and shape metal.

I learned how to use a lot of
new machines.

I'd never done a project
like this.

I think it would be fun to go
into engineering now.
