Industry Focus

The CACT @ Modesto offers technology education, manufacturing training, and consulting services that contribute to continuous workforce development, technology deployment and business development. The network of CACTs across California contribute to the vibrancy of California's advanced manufacturing sector by helping them compete successfully in changing markets and the global economy.

Core Competencies

  • Offer a wide selection and sequence of college night courses for current employees interested in upgrade and gaining skills and knowledge in Advanced Manufacturing Disciplines
  • Design and provide Customized Technical Training Programs to upgrade specific technical knowledge and efficiency of operators, maintenance personnel, mechanics, electro-mechanics and electricians
  • Electrician Trainee Certified School # 136 - DAS
  • Assist employers to develop company specific apprentice programs for preparing journey level technicians, and sanction program as a Local Education Agency with the State of California
  • Prepare a Pool of Entry Level Candidates for local Manufacturing Employers through the (ACT) Accelerated Career in Technology Pathways

Student Career Pathways

  • Career in Advanced Manufacturing Scholarships for students pursuing a certificate or degree in Electronics, Industrial Arts, Machine Tool Technology, Printing or Welding.
  • High School / College Dual Enrollment Program: Modesto Technical School. Opportunity for High School Seniors to complete their last year in high school and enroll in college courses on campus.
  • Accelerated Training via the ACT program which offers several pathways that prepare students to enter the market in 10 months or less.
  • Outreach and career exploration assistance for secondary schools
  • Job placement assistance for students enrolled in MJC programs

The interview with the CACT was quite an eye-opener, causing us to realize for the first time just how much 'big bang for the buck' training the Community Colleges offer to local manufacturers and metalworking job shops.
